Title: Workshop e-IDea 2009
Location: Leuven, Belgium

2nd Workshop e-IDea 2009: Developing secure applications using the Belgian eID Technology

In 2002, Belgium -as one of the first countries in Europe- introduced an electronic identity card. The card enables citizen to digitally prove their identity and to sign electronic documents. Today, eID applications are developed in many domains (eHealth, Government, Commerce, Corporate Environments, etc.). Moreover, the card offers new opportunities for Flemish software developers in many omains.

Important contributions and trends related to electronic identity cards are presented in this workshop. More specifically, speakers can contribute to the development and/or debate of eID technologies in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Additionally, the results of a two-year research project that focuses on secure and privacy-friendly application development with the Belgian eID are presented. The workshop ends with a panel discussion about future perspectives and opportunities for eID technologies in Europe. The event brings together developers, end-users and researchers from different sectors and disciplines.

Further information regarding the program of the workshop can be found here.

The workshop is expected to host over 100 participants. Registration is open and can be performed online before 10th September 2009 with the payment of a fee.
