The annual Hawaii International Conferences on System Sciences (HICSS) are one of the longest-standing continuously running scientific conferences.. A strong track on Electronic Government Research is included for several years now.

HICSS-43 contains the following tracks, or areas of research concentration. A paper may be submitted to any minitrack in one of these tracks, but not to more than one minitrack.

* Digital Media: Content and Communication
* Electronic Government
* Future Electric Power Systems: Smart Grids, Engineering, Economics, Security
* Information Technology in Health Care
* Internet and the Digital Economy

* Organizational Systems and Technology
* Software Technology

The Track on Electronic Government as a multidisciplinary research domain studies the use of ICT in the context of public policy making (electronic governance), government operations (management, organization, infrastructure, interoperability, security, citizen engagement (e-participation and digital democracy), and government services (inbound and outbound). For years, HICSS has featured groundbreaking studies and new ideas in E-Government, including a minitrack specifically dedicated to emerging topics and technologies.
